"LET US NOT BECOME WEARY IN DOING GOOD, FOR AT THE PROPER TIME WE WILL REAP A HARVEST IF WE DO NOT GIVE UP." (Galatians 6:9)
My hope is that - as you read this newsletter - the County inspection will be completed soon - so that we can officially operate as the church here in Upper Carmel Valley! As I type this - I am sitting in my office at the church and outside the window there is hail that has come down most of the night - some stuck - and it looks very beautiful!
January 2008 was the start of serving as a church here in Cachagua. Services started in the Community Park and inside the General Store. The body - Elders and staff had sensed earlier that God wanted Sanctuary to be serving in an area of our community that was not hearing the Good News about Jesus Christ.
About May of 2010 Pastor Ben Sobels was called as lead pastor of Cypress Community Church and God allowed me to come out here and serve.
In 2013 we were given a gift to be used in finding a property that would serve as the church in Upper Carmel Valley. God put together a great team: Les & Terann Carr, Don & Colly Tettlebach, John & Dru Hammond, Leslie Voss and Mignon Higgins. We spent about a year looking at properties and it was obvious it would need to be a specific property that would meet the needs of a church. I remember the day that we drove onto this property in the church van - everyone expressed the sense that this was the place! We purchased the property at 19345 Cachagua Road in July of 2014 and were able to pay it off completely with the gift God had provided!
More than 4 years ago we started the process of getting our permit to be a church. I believe that some residents thought we wanted to become something more than a church - and I understand that. This is a community that loves quiet and peaceful country living. It is also a community that comes together and helps their neighbors in challenging times - and we have been fortunate to be part of that as well. We are here to serve Jesus Christ and this community in all the ways He opens doors of opportunity.
It is also obvious that God is stirring the hearts of Sanctuary to reach out more to our neighbors right here in this Valley community. I believe the Christian Pre-School is an important part of that ministry shift and will provide opportunities for new personal relationships!
We are almost at the finish line! We have changed the name to help anyone in Upper Carmel Valley to feel welcome to worship and fellowship here. The new name is: "Valley Bible Fellowship."
Please join us in thanking God for all that He has done - all He is doing now - and what He will do in the future to bring glory to His Name and many to a saving faith in Christ Jesus.
This has been a long and challenging journey - faith tested and lives impacted and transformed.
As we move forward - continually asking God to lead us in serving Him and the people of our communities - remember - we are serving the Lord together - and that Valley Bible Fellowship is a ministry partner with Sanctuary!
May the Name of Christ Jesus be glorified, and many come to a reconciled relationship with God through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus.
