We believe in missions and have an active team who stay in touch with our missionaries and organize visits both from them and to them.
Elizabeth's Library and Kids for the Kingdom
Elizabeth Tolhurst attended Sanctuary Bible Church and was a vibrant happy young woman, despite being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at a young age.
She was an avid reader and wanted someday to become a teacher and travel to Africa. As she worked diligently towards this goal she joined a group for supporting Hope Home Mission School, an indigenous ministry located in Lilongwe, Malawi. The School is run by Pastor Joseph Harr and provides education and meals to local children.
Elizabeth helped to send many books to this mission and Sanctuary has supported the mission to help bring additional meals to the children who attend the school.
In 2011 Elizabeth lost her battle with her illness and at her wish her parents gifted her memorial funds to the construction of an actual library. In July 2012, Elizabeth's Library in Lilongwe was officially decicated.
This has been an incredible resourse impacting many lives in this area - a wonderful legacy, that we at Sanctuary are happy to contine helping with.
Short Term Mission Trips
During the summer of 2016, seven members of Sanctuary Bible Church and three affiliated people went to the small country of Albania.
There they joined with our Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) missionaries, Jim and Debbie Samland, for a week of teaching English to Albanian University students. They were also joined by a large contingent of Albanian CRU staff, who served as translators, directors, and administrators.
In the process of teaching English to three levels of ability, they were able to share their faith.
Part of this team went back in 2014 and they all agreed that this experience showed incredible insight into God’s love and provision throughout the world. It was an intensely moving and inspiring experience.
Of course, without the prayer and financial support of the members none of what we did would have been possible.

Missionaries we support.
Sanctuary supports missions both locally and globally.
Locally there are several avenues. Pastor Orville Myers thru the recent work in Cachagua Valley has now established a full time church presence.
Our Youth Group are encouraged to visit other countries and has an annual missions trip to Mexico.
Bob and Char Reehm who attend Sancutary work with The Navigators ministering to the local military population at the Navel Post Graduate School. David and Michaeal Cook with Campus Crusade for Christ also work at NPS and the Defense Language Institue.
There are many missionaries overseas whom we help both financially and thru continued prayer support. Check out the bulletin board in the lobby and in Faith Hall.
