Cachagua: Slowly, Surely

With every meeting of Cachagua Church the Lord encourages our small outreach team. At our first worship service in August I was struck again with the Lord’s faithfulness in continuing to draw new people to this little church. Almost every time we meet there is at least one new visitor!

One of our visitors in August was from San Francisco. Her name was Sally. Sally grew up in Cachagua and told us that the Lord had put it on her heart to pray for Cachagua a year ago. As I reflected on what she said I realized that was the same time our elders were prayerfully formulating plans to plant a small church in Cachagua. Praise God!

Sally was a big encouragement to the Cachagua outreach team. She reminded us of one main thing—God desires the people of Cachagua to come to know Him and He is placing this desire on the hearts of His people to pray.

The Lord is slowly but surely expanding the influence of Cachagua Church in Cachagua. It might be one or two people at a time but, nevertheless, His word is spreading. Please do not underestimate the power of your prayers for this ministry. We desperately covet them as we seek to continue holding out the gospel of Christ’s salvation to the people of Cachagua. Thank you for praying.

Thank You: Ana and Paulo

In January, when it was freezing in Cachagua, and Cachagua Church was just getting started, a couple from SBCCV volunteered to serve the children of Cachagua and establish a children’s ministry. That couple was Ana and Paulo Vicente.

Ana and Paulo came traveled with their kids, Danielle and Shonn, to Cachagua every time Cachagua Church met—they missed only one Sunday (and Ana was in hospital that day). Ana did puppet shows, creative crafts, and always did a great job communicating the Bible story … my kids could remember it clearly! :-)

Thank you so much Ana and Paulo for being obedient and faithful to the Lord by serving the children of Cachagua. You have been a tremendous blessing and we will really miss you. Lord bless you.

~Ben

Nursery News...

We are so blessed to have 20-28 children under 4 in our nursery on Sunday mornings! They are precious!

We staff our nursery with 2 paid workers, and the rest volunteers. We are losing 5 military families by September, all of whom help us in the nursery. Additionally we are losing 2 other helpers as their children are "graduating" to children's church...That said, we welcome new people with young ones...and guess what? We could use your help once a month in the nursery.

Please contact Christine Williams to sign up at 659-1307 or kiwimama8@comcast.net. THANKS!

Hands of Care

If you have ever received encouragement and help from the church family you know what a blessing it is. We have many opportunities to serve each other and we hope everyone will respond when called upon. Beth Hall is the contact person for this wonderful ministry. Hands of Care helps people in many ways. You may be called upon to drive someone to a doctor's appointment, or help with an errand, or provide a meal. Everything that is done provides an important connection to the church body. Providing meals is probably the most challenging thing to be prepared to do, but it can be approached creatively. Would you be willing to have a meal ready in your freezer for a quick delivery? Are there easy dishes that you could put together from your cupboard, and then stop by the grocery store for a salad and desert? Think about the blessing you could receive by being there for someone else.

Prayer Chain

There are many people on the prayer chain, ready and willing to pray for YOU! If you have a prayer need, please contact Shelly Everett mtyshell@sbcglobal.net).M

Men’s Homeless Dinner

Once a month we have our Men’s Homeless dinner outreach here at the church. Jodi Sherman provides and prepares a great meal for the men, but would love your help. If you would like to help out just come on Sunday, November 25 at 4:30 p.m. Also, the men are in need of blankets and warm jackets for winter. Your donations may be dropped off in the bins in the men’s bathroom in Faith Hall.

Operation Yellow Ribbon

Operation Yellow Ribbon, Monterey is a non profit organization whose sole purpose is to provide care packages to our service personnel in Afghanistan and Iraq. Included in these packages are personal hygiene items, snacks, batteries, socks, phone and I Tune cards, and many more items. In each box, we try to include a hand written note that just tells the service man or woman that we are thinking of them and praying for them. If you would like to help, we always need more written notes. Children’s drawings are welcomed too and bring a big smile.

To send a note, please write your thoughts of love and encouragement, (no political messages please), and prayers, leave it unsealed and place it in the mailbox on the table in our church lobby. You may include your name and address if you so choose as sometimes the military person will respond. Lynn Welch will be picking up the notes and pictures and taking
them to Operation Yellow Ribbon.

Quilt Group

Come join the fun and learn a new quilt block each month. Our summer meeting is August 15th. We meet in the Yellow Room of Faith Hall at 6:30 pm until about 9 pm. Please call Terann Carr for a supply list.
